How to write if else statement

There are many ways to write an if else statement. Below are two examples:

Example 1:

if(this)
{
  do this;
}
else
{
  do that;
}

Example 2:

if(this){
  do this;
}else{
  do that;
}

Our standard should stick to example no.2, as it's more compact, easier to view and debug, save spaces, faster and more efficient in the sense of compiler compile less line.
